Sister Mary Clare

To be Love in the heart of the Church

My name is Sr. MaryClare H. Vu. I come from a traditional Catholic family background. I was a city girl, and I attended the school that was operated by the Sisters of the Lover of the Holy Cross. During my elementary years, the Sisters told many stories of the Saints and how they loved God and served the Church. This inspired my best friend and I to visit the Blessed Sacrament regularly every day after school hours for many years. The Cathedral where we visited was a 15 minute walk, opposite our way to the school and to our homes. With each visit, we dreamed of becoming nuns to help the Church and the people when we were growing up.

During my middle school and earlier years of High school, I joined the High School Catholic Youth Group for three years. The dream to become a sister slowly faded as I surrounded myself with friends, and even having a boyfriend. However, the good God, in His loving providence, gently guided me to what He knows will truly make me happy. In 1970, my good friend and I decided to visit and try out the Congregation of Mary Queen of the World, located in rural Saigon, Vietnam. I was persevering one year at a time with God’s blessings.

With His grace, I made my First Vows in June 23, 1974 on the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I celebrated my Silver Jubilee in 1999 in the United States. On that same year, our Congregation had a new name: the Congregation of MissionarySisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Mercy. Our Motherhouse is in Lincoln, Nebraska. With my many years in religious life, I am still trying to deepen my intimacy with God as I am getting on age.  I pray that many souls will offer their lives to serve the Church in the priesthood and religious life. Please pray for me on my journey toward the Lord.
